Atmus Entertainment, which has taken up the distribution and release of superstar Rajinikanth’s Kochadaiiyaan in U.S., has slashed the cost of tickets considerably to enable all Tamil-speaking families in U.S. to watch the film comfortably.
Released in record number of 104 halls in U.S., the film collected US $535,000 in its first five days till Wednesday. It continues in 58 halls in its second week. Usually, cost of tickets to watch Tamil films in U.S. is higher than that of a Hollywood film; if it is a Rajini-starrer, the cost would only get higher. However, bowing to public demand, Atmos has decided to reduce the cost of tickets to make it lesser than Hollywood films’ tickets.
The reduced fares came into effect from Friday (30th May) and are expected to benefit most Tamil families in U.S. which have, on an average, at leas four members. Atmos Entertainment made it clear that the reduction in fares were effected mainly to enable al the Tamil families watch and enjoy Kochadaiiyaan, the first-ever animation film to be made in 3-D mode in India.
Vikramasimha, the Telugu version of Kochadaiiyaan, continues in 11 halls in its second week. As of now, Kochadaiiyaan is ranked fifth when it comes to theatrical collections in halls in U.S. for Tamil films. The status might change if the clamour for watching the film picks up in the coming weeks!
